Rous County Council reserves the right to moderate content. People who repeatedly violate the Social Media Conduct Expectations may be blocked from our social media channels.

Rous County Council Social Media Conduct Expectations 

What to expect:

  • The page is monitored during business hours of 8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).
  • Enquiries and correspondence will not be dealt with on social media. Please contact us directly on (02) 6623 3800 or council@rous.nsw.gov.au for formal responses.
  • Customer service standards for social media are in line with our Customer Service Charter.
  • We take a zero-tolerance approach to online abuse via social media.
  • We will delete any posts or comments that violate our Social Media Conduct Expectations.
  • The opinions and/or views expressed on our social media platforms represent the thoughts of individuals from the online community, and not those of Rous County Council or any of its councillors or staff.

By engaging with Rous County Council on social media you agree to:

  • Be an active and responsible community member.
  • Not reveal personal or sensitive information about yourself or others on this page.
  • Protect your personal privacy.
  • Be respectful of others and their opinions.
  • Not harass, abuse, or threaten other visitors or site administrators.
  • Not use abusive or offensive language or emoji.
  • Not post defamatory information that is factually inaccurate or misleading.
  • Not post comments that are likely to offend others, particularly in relation to race, age, gender, sexuality, political leaning, religion, or disability.
  • Not promote anything that may constitute spam, commercial interest, solicitations, or advertisements.

Rous County Council reserves the right to remove posts or comments that it deems:

  • Are not related to the topic being commented on.
  • Use profane language or content.
  • Defamatory, abusive, discriminatory, or unlawful.
  • Infringes or threatens the privacy of others.
  • Is considered spam.
  • Promotes, fosters, or perpetuates discrimination based on race, colour, age, religion, gender, marital status, status regarding public assistance, natural origin, physical or mental disability or sexual orientation.
  • Are sexual in content.
  • Solicit business, advertises.
  • Infringe copyright.
  • Encourage illegal activity or conduct.
  • Are considered intimidating, defamatory, threatening, harassing, or bullying.
  • Compromise the safety or security of the public.
